Rule #2 LOVE – Choose love always! Be kind. If you make being a nice and loving person one of your missions, you can’t go wrong!

Rule #3 APPRECIATE – If someone does something nice or helpful, give thanks. Be a grateful person.

Rule #4 BE PREPARED – Always keep essentials in your handbag, cause you never know when you might need them; tissues, bandaid, pads, bandaid and concealer.

Rule #5 ALWAYS LEARN – No matter what age, you can never know everything. There’s always room for learning. Enjoy the journey.

The ‘Get your Sparkle On’ Appletiser campaign is all about empowering women and making them feel strong, in control & beautiful. We want to celebrate the ‘everyday rules’ for the ‘everyday heroine’ by championing the top 5 rules by which you live your life. These could really be anything at all! They could include:

  • Relationships
  • Career
  • Friends & family
  • Food & dining
  • Holidays
  • Or anything else in your life!

P.s. Since I’m doing this campaign for Appletiser, I’d love to tell you about this yummy drink. I love the fact that it has no preservatives, no artificial colours or flavours, and it sparkles – I think this drink epitomises exactly how I want to be. A real, genuine honest person, who sparkles and has no artificial colours!

Hi Mica! :) Happy New Year!

These are great, I agree 100% with you. For me, I think it is most important to make sure you don’t get caught up in the past, sure learn from the past, but don’t hold grudges or regret what you have done. life is too short. and always remember that what you have now is what you, once upon a time, only ever dreamed of having, when you look at it like this you can appreciate what you have more.

Although this is simple, and quite old, I think it’s still one of the most amazing things to remember in life.

A “rule” I live by, which should be one for the Nation is, “a little of everything in MODERATION”:)

    • http://www.thesydneygirl.com thesydneygirl

I say that to people ALL THE TIME! haha! Good luck Nyah!

  • Snappystreet

A big rule for me to live by now is:

    MONOTASKING.

I really believe if I can apply this word to every day life, it will greatly improve! How many of us are now unable to sit and focus on one thing at a time? Constantly checking our phones for emails, facebook, instagram while watching a movie or TV Show. Not really engaging in proper conversations with others as we are too distracted by other things.

This year I want to be better at doing ONE thing, at a time. AND DOING IT WELL.

This in turn I think will really help me achieve all I want to in the next 12 months, and I don’t need to write lists and lists of those things. I know that by focusing on one thing at any one time, I can slowly work my way through everything I hold so dear and passionately.

Here’s to a fabulous stress free and engaging 2013!

    • http://www.thesydneygirl.com thesydneygirl

Great rule to live by! And yes! Cheers, may this year be an awesome one – stress free would be nice! Good luck!

One rule that I live by is a quote from a movie that I watched (corny, I know…) The quote is from ‘We Bought A Zoo’ and is “All you need is 20 seconds of insane courage, and I promise you, something great will come of it” I try to live by this because I know that I am the type of person who is likely to shy away from going for what I want if it means that there is some embarrassment involved. Be it entering a talent competition or telling a guy that I like him.

I try to live by this quote so that I am able to see, that despite what may happen during the process of achieving my goals (and the embarrassment that my ensue), that something great will always come out of it and that it is always worth it to have those 20 seconds of insane courage.

    • http://www.thesydneygirl.com thesydneygirl

That’s a really great quote and rule to live by! Good luck Michelle. Thanks for sharing!

Mine is “Decide that you want it more than you’re afraid of it.”
I read it somewhere and it stuck.
At the time, I was too afraid to drive, which was really difficult as I’m a mum of three.
But that just inspired me. I booked some driving lessons and started learning how to drive. After a few months, I got my licence on my first attempt, just shy of my 33rd birthday!!

    • http://www.thesydneygirl.com thesydneygirl

That’s fantastic! Congratulations. That’s very inspiring. Good luck Michelle!

You can’t change the past, but you can ruin the present by worrying over the future… learnt this one the hard one .. but I’ve learnt from my mistake.

    • http://www.thesydneygirl.com thesydneygirl

Great rule to live by. Thanks Melly! Good luck!

Try, try, try to be present. To live in the present, rather than focussing on the future or worrying about what might happen (or reflecting on the past). I’m still practising this one ;-)

“Have more fear of regret than failure.” – If you go for it and fail, you will no doubt have learnt something and know what not to do. If you never go for it, all you have is that awful feeling of regret.

    • http://www.thesydneygirl.com thesydneygirl

Good luck Tania! :) Thanks for your entry!

My Rule 1: The way to get started is to quit talking and begin doing.

      Good luck Elizabeth!

“If you want to meet hot guys, go out with no make up, don’t wash your hair and wear your baggiest, oldest clothes”. This would happen whenever I went to the laundromatt and I got so sick of becoming embarrassed, that I made more of an effort so I knew I’d stop bumping into them. Murphy’s Law. This also works for chance encounters with your ex.

    • http://www.thesydneygirl.com thesydneygirl

Haha love it. Good luck Annie!

“Sometimes your the bug and sometimes your the windscreen!”
