The Shopping Forecast

by Joelyne

shoppingforecast The Shopping Forecast

A website which involves everyone. The buyer, brand, journo, blogger and general public. Excitingly enough, I’m now on the ‘Style Council’, and get to make my verdict of what’s hot for next season.

As you know, I’m in the Southern Hemisphere, and this site is based in the Northern Hemisphere, where most fashion trends start. So where do I come in? I’ll be adding what I think will be up and coming for those thinking about a trip to Europe/US, and what will be popular in the coming seasons in Australia, so that you’re ahead of the game, and of course, for those in the Northern Hemisphere!

Here’s the run down of The Shopping Forecast…

1. Fashion Bloggers and journalists etc post onto the site what they want to wear NEXT SEASON.

2. The public vote, comment, create outfits and exchange ideas about the posted items, and can click through to buy the items.

3. Also, information about next season’s posted items (neckline, trend, color, style etc) are captured and matched against the profile of whoever voted for the items (age, location, profession etc). Together this forms a picture of what people will want to buy from the shops in a few months time. Savvy high street buyers will then know what to put in their shops that will sell.

There is also an ethical consideration as shops buy the items people want, then waste is reduced.

Get Organised

by Joelyne

wardrobetwitterfeedback Get Organised

I find that sometimes a little advice can make all the difference. A few days ago, I planned to clear out my summer items to make way for the winter ones. I usually sort my clothes by colour, and was wondering how practical this was and if I should change it. So, I reached out to my twitter friends, and with their help, came to the conclusion that organising a closet by type was tried and tested and worked well for most people. Now my closet is beautifully arranged my type

I’ve been forever trying to figure out the best way to organise my shoes. Again, my fab twitter friends pointed me in the right direction. If you want to keep shoes dust-free and in good condition, boxes are the way to go!

KOOKAÏ Australia operates 29 Boutiques throughout Australia and our neighbour New Zealand.

There are two boutiques in the city of Sydney. One in Paddington on Oxford Street, which is one of my favourite places to shop, and one in The Galleries of Victoria, close to Pitt Street Mall.

I’ve been extremely fortunate to be a part of the Ben and Jerry’s Flavour Election Campaign. My freezer is now full of various flavours of their delicious ice cream, which they couriered to me so that I could make my verdict. Not a hard job, I can tell you that! Obviously, it’s HALF BAKED! Super duperly yummy!
Ben & Jerry’s are asking Australian ice cream fanatics to vote for their preferred Ben & Jerry’s flavour. Vote for your favourite, for a chance to WinA YEARS SUPPLY here.

Also, don’t miss out on the Free Cone Day at Ben & Jerry’s scoop shops. The deets are here.

Goals

by Joelyne

GOAL SETTING:

28 March 11

I think setting goals is really important for each person. It means we have some exciting things to look forward to. So that when we accomplish those, we’ve become a better version of ourselves, and feel like we’ve accomplished something. It builds self confidence, and general wellbeing.

It can sometimes be a little scary setting goals. So start with small goals, short term and long term. And once you see those working out, set some huge ones. If we don’t dream, how can we achieve big things?! icon smile Goals

5566257161 12c6570fce z Goals

Sell car:
I’ve been wanting to sell my car for quite a while now, and have finally put it up for sale! I received one call about it last night, yay! Hoping that I sell it soon. Now that I have a mortgage, I need all the extra money I can get.

Wiifit: The Wiifit is truly fantastic! I’ve been using it nearly every day to improve my posture, balance and general fitness levels. My Wiifit age is 39 – not impressive. Everyone should exercise, no matter what weight, or size. I might look fit on the outside, but really I’ve got a lot of work to do!

Fruit: I find myself lacking in energy. So instead of huge meals, I’m going to have smaller ones, but more frequently throughout my day. I usually eat well, lots of veggies etc, but rarely ever have fruit. So, I’ve made it my mission, to have at least one fruit a day! I know that sounds cliché ‘”One fruit a day” – but it’s true! This is a great habit to have, and it’s one I need to work on.

Water: Got to keep the fluid levels up! I need to drink more water – but not too much.

Credit Card: My credit card has worked for me for the past 7 years. But now that I have a mortgage, I am finding it hard to keep up. So once I pay it off, it will be – bye bye credit card.

Digital Imaging: I LOVE digital imaging. It’s one of my favourite past times, that I get to use on my blog and have recently been using in my full time job, thanks to my Manager who gives me the opportunity to use and hone my skills. I would love to add to them, and in the process of finding a Digital Imaging course.

Vision Board: The Power of Now, and the Power of Attraction, are two concepts I live by. Which is why I’ve decided to make a vision board for my room, a collage of things I love and want, to attract what I desire in to my life, by purely imagining them.

Update:
Sunday 25 September 11

  • DID SELL CAR
  • DID NOT EXERCISE
  • DID NOT EAT MORE FRUIT
  • DID DRINK MORE WATER EACH DAY
  • DID PAY OFF CREDIT CARD
  • DID NOT FIND DIGITAL IMAGING COURSE CLOSE BY
  • DID MAKE A VISION BOARD FOR MY BEDROOM, AND NEED TO ADD TO IT

So, as you can see, you might not achieve every single goal right away. But you will achieve some, and that will give you confidence to know that you can actually achieve your goals. And then you will have the determination to achieve the ones you couldn’t, or change them so that they will work.

I changed the goals that I couldn’t accomplish, into easier goals. If you successfully achieve an easy goal, it is then easier to reach higher!

My new goals are:

  • EXERCISE FOR 20 MIN TWICE A WEEK – I borrowed an exercise DVD from the library. I’ll let you know how that goes!

  • EAT 1 FRUIT A WEEK, THEN TWO – I’m so bad at eating fruit, but I am determined to make this happen!

  • DO A PHOTOGRAPHY COURSE CLOSE TO HOME, to build on my existing skills.

  • ADD MORE INSPIRATIONAL PHOTOS TO MY TUMBLR, and print some out for my vision board.

  • LEARN TWO NEW RECIPES A MONTH, print them out and stick them in my recipes scrapbook.

P.s. I found this PDF file of ‘how to hit your goals’ from Brittany Lynch‘s Website! Please check it out – it’s basically how I set my goals and achieve them.

Me & Valencia | Manly Beach | Lights stand @ Paddington Markets | @ Opera Bar | Harbour Bridge View | Circular Quay Station
Photos taken by Valencia on her iPhone using the Hipstamatic App.

Valencia and I met via blogging, and when I went to Greece last year, I made sure to stop by Singapore to finally meet and spend time with her – which I blogged about here. There was no awkwardness, or feeling of ‘I don’t know this person’, it just felt like we’ve always been friends. Valencia was a great tour guide of Singapore, and so I when she came to visit me in Sydney last week, I wanted to make her visit as exciting as she made mine.

So I decided to take her to the main hot spots of Sydney…

Some of our itinerary consisted of; ferry to Manly, Manly Beach, Circular Quay, Opera bar, Paddington Markets, Darling Harbour, IVY Bar, Newtown & Pancakes on the Rocks.

MIA

by Joelyne

Sorry guys!!! I’ve been missing in action. My friend Valencia, behind the blog, Roll up your Sleeve, flew all the way from Singapore to visit me. I had the pleasant and fun duty of taking her all over Sydney. From Paddington, to Circular Quay. Basically all the hot spots!

Will put up some photos tonight, so you can see what we got up to!
