How to get out of Auto-Pilot
Rituals have completely changed my life, and here I will share with you rituals to change your life. Do read on if this is something you’ve been wanting to do for a while. For myself and others, we tend to go into auto-pilot mode. Get up, go to work, maybe/maybe not have a lunch break. Finish work. Maybe/maybe not fit in exercise. Eat dinner, go to sleep and then do it all over again.
It really makes the difference to our sense of joy if we can add small snippets of enjoyment within our already created habits.
Surely, it doesn’t have to be that complicated, and, as a matter of fact, I think it can be the simplest of things.
With beautiful God’s help, we can be motivated to make the small changes which will make big differences in our lives. And, these create a domino effect on everything else. Do one amazing little change, and you will see it flow into so many areas of your life. It’s truly magical!
In my journal, I asked God to help me dig out from my automatic way of doing things, how exactly I have been able to create such healthy, awesome habits. This is what came out on the page! Here they are:

The following is to give you an idea of one of my rituals which I’ve got down pat. Great thing is, you can always add to it, and make it more exciting and enjoyable. A morning ritual is highly recommended as one of the best rituals to change your life.
My morning ritual
💖Wake up at 5:30 am
💖Make a cup of coffee
💖Read two pages out of the bible
💖Journal and pray to God, expressing all thoughts and feelings that come to mind. Praying for all I wish to happen and be, and gratitude for what is, and what’s to come.
💖Read a spiritual book
💖Have a shower
💖Get gym clothes on, put work clothes into my backpack, and head to the gym
💖Finish work out. Change into work clothes and head to work
Having a morning ritual really sets me up for the day (if I get my 8 hours of sleep, that is!).
When I first started this ritual, it wasn’t this whole list of things. It evolved over time.
How did I do it?
Waking up earlier, was the first goal, and the way I did this, was to have something enjoyable (a reward) to look forward to upon waking up. And for me, that’s…
Initially, I didn’t get up at 5:30 am and in contrast, 7 am was the usual time I would get up and would rush around to get ready for work!
Stress and chaos filled my mornings, so, I decided to try getting up 15 minutes earlier. That’s right! Only 15 minutes earlier than my usual time.
The thing about the brain is, it’s in the protective mode when you veer out of a habit and try something new. Back in the caveman days, in order to survive, it was important for us to stick to what we knew. If we were to break out of our routine, the brain would be like,”Oh no no, you can’t do that, you won’t survive”.
We both know this is no longer a threat to us, and we will survive and need to put in the effort to be strong when it comes to the brain. One day I think we will evolve out of this fearful mode, but for now, we have no choice but to learn how to work with it.
My advice is, if you DRASTICALLY change your habit, it will be VERY difficult for your brain to accept it.
Which is why…
How you can do it
Start with just waking up 15 minutes earlier for a while, if it’s a morning routine you want to establish. Or alternatively, one small step could simply be looking up the phone number for the gym where you want to make an appointment to see a trainer. (another one of my first steps! :))
Another one was starting with saving just 20 dollars per pay, and so I kept increasing it until it was half my pay. Then I bought a car outright and put down a nice deposit for my apartment (which is now worth double, and I’ve paid $75k of it). What I’m telling you is based on my experience, time and time again, with amazing results.
I hope this worksheet helps you and I know it will if you follow the steps and please let me know if you have any questions!
Check out a past video I did on creating new rituals, also!
